Cooking Simulator [2019]
When I joined the team working on this game, my first task was to redesign the old user interface. Many UX solutions had to retain their original form, but fortunately, I was able to make quite a few changes. Along with the improvements, I managed to introduce a number of new enhancements and features that weren't there originally, such as a newsfeed, animated menus, leaderboards, game mode menus, minor quality-of-life improvements, and gamepad support. All changes were made with the understanding that the game would be expanded with additional DLC over many years.
Each game mode has its own banner, which also helps to distinguish between the different modes.
Many of the modes and events required their own dedicated UI elements and screens. Each new mode got its own version of the main menu. Many of these graphics were reused in marketing materials.
Combining the aesthetics of two different titles was a fun task.
I wanted each game mode to have distinctive visual elements that would set it apart from the others, while retaining the “DNA” of the main style.
Many graphics were created with the aim of promoting the game on Steam and interacting with players.
At one point, I was asked to design a logo for the VR version of the game. I decided it would be a good idea to keep part of the classic logo to maintain brand recognition, but at the same time modify it enough to give it its own story.
